When should a builder book a progress scan?+
Book before concrete is poured on critical slabs, before services are closed in on ceilings, and again at practical completion. Most projects benefit from at least three capture points: structure complete, services rough-in, and pre-handover. Early scans catch vertical and grid errors when they are still cheap to fix.
Can you compare our scan to the consultant BIM model?+
Yes. We register the point cloud to your project coordinates, export to RCP or E57, and can produce deviation heat maps or clearance reports against your Navisworks or Revit model. This is common on commercial towers where tolerance to design is part of the subcontract scope.
What construction tolerances can scanning verify?+
Our equipment detects deviations of 2 to 3mm, finer than the tolerances in Australian construction standards. AS 3600 permits +/-10mm positional tolerance for formed concrete and tighter limits for surface regularity; AS 4100 specifies +/-3 to +/-5mm for steel member positions. Floor flatness is measured to ASTM E1155 and reported as FF and FL numbers. Because the scan is always finer than the tolerance being checked, the measurement itself is never the limiting factor.
Do you provide as-built drawings for handover?+
Yes. We deliver as-built point clouds plus 2D plans, sections, and ceiling plans for handover, strata records, and asset registers. Where you need an intelligent model rather than drawings, we model to LOD 200 or LOD 300.
