3D Laser Scanning Gold Coast | Drone 3D Mapping

The Gold Coast's skyline of high-rise residential towers, resort complexes, and rapid greenfield development along the M1 corridor creates steady demand for 3D scanning services. From the Q1 tower precinct in Surfers Paradise to the new hospital infrastructure at Varsity Lakes, projects across the coast require accurate spatial data for design, construction, and asset management.

High-Rise Facade Scanning in Gold Coast

Need a building, structure, or site captured in 3D? Our laser scanning service turns physical spaces into precise digital models. We handle everything from quote through to delivery: you get clean, usable point cloud data ready for your software.

Architectural & BIM Scanning in Gold Coast

On-site laser scanning for architects, interior designers, and renovation contractors. We capture the full geometry of your building so you can design from accurate existing conditions instead of unreliable legacy drawings.

LiDAR surveys for roads, bridges, rail corridors, and civil earthworks. From design verification to as-built documentation, we capture infrastructure at any scale.

Aerial & UAV Mapping in Gold Coast

Drone surveying for sites too large, too remote, or too dangerous for ground-based scanning. Our CASA-certified pilots deploy LiDAR and camera payloads for everything from 1-hectare building sites to 100-hectare mine sites.

Construction Progress Scanning in Gold Coast

Construction verification scanning is the use of 3D laser scanning to compare as-built construction against design models, detecting deviations, verifying setout accuracy, and documenting progress at each construction stage.

Strata Building Documentation in Gold Coast

Need a building, structure, or site captured in 3D? Our laser scanning service turns physical spaces into precise digital models. We handle everything from quote through to delivery: you get clean, usable point cloud data ready for your software.

Local Context

Why Gold Coast Needs 3D Scanning

The Gold Coast packs more high-rise residential towers into a narrow coastal strip than anywhere else in Australia, and the building pipeline keeps growing with the light rail extension south toward Burleigh, resort and hotel redevelopment around Broadbeach, and large master-planned communities from Coomera to Pimpama. Tourism and population growth keep developers, strata bodies, and asset managers busy, and each tower, resort, and civil project needs accurate spatial data for design, remediation, and ongoing management. The coast also carries a heavy maintenance load: the same towers that define the skyline need facade records and defect documentation as they age in a harsh marine setting.

Coastal structures face accelerated deterioration from salt-laden air, making facade documentation and condition recording critical for strata bodies and asset managers. Point cloud scanning captures the full external envelope of a tower in a single mobilisation, producing data that engineers and facade consultants use to plan remediation, track defects, and verify repair work.

Beyond the high-rises, the Gold Coast's construction pipeline includes the second casino precinct at Broadbeach, transport infrastructure for the expanded light rail network, and large residential subdivisions from Coomera to Tugun. Civil contractors rely on our drone LiDAR for topographic surveys and volumetric calculations. Architects working on the coast's growing hospitality and aged care sectors use our interior scans for renovation design and compliance documentation.

Local Conditions

Coastal structures here sit in salt-laden air that drives accelerated concrete and steel corrosion, so facade and balcony condition records are a recurring need for strata committees and engineers. Much of the developed land is reclaimed canal estate and sandy coastal soil, which affects setout and level surveys, and waterfront frontages add tidal and access constraints. High-rise concrete facades, podium car parks, and plant rooms make up a large share of the scanning workload.

Survey Control & Regulatory

Gold Coast survey control ties to MGA2020 Zone 56 with AHD heights, suited to the canal and reclaimed-land levels common across the city. Heritage places are protected under the Queensland Heritage Act 1992, while the City of Gold Coast City Plan sets the height, setback, and overlay controls that measured existing-condition data supports during development assessment.

FAQs

Common Questions for Gold Coast

How do you service the Gold Coast from Brisbane?

We travel to the Gold Coast weekly and can schedule dedicated days for the region. Our team departs Paddington early and reaches Southport within an hour via the M1, with Coolangatta about 90 minutes away. For large or multi-day projects we set up locally and work consecutive days to minimise travel overhead. There is no additional travel surcharge for Gold Coast sites within the Southport-to-Coolangatta corridor. Projects further west toward Tamborine or Beaudesert may attract a small mobilisation fee depending on distance.

Can you scan a high-rise exterior from the ground?

For buildings up to roughly 15 storeys, terrestrial scanners positioned at multiple ground locations can capture the full facade with good point density. Taller buildings benefit from a combined approach: terrestrial scanning of the lower levels and podium, plus drone-mounted LiDAR or photogrammetry for upper levels and the roof. We have scanned towers up to 50 storeys on the Gold Coast using this method. The combined data set is merged into a single registered point cloud covering the entire building envelope.

What data do strata managers need from a building scan?

Strata managers typically commission scans for three reasons: capital works planning, defect documentation, and insurance records. We deliver a registered point cloud of the common property areas (lobbies, car parks, plant rooms, facade), plus ortho-imagery of each elevation showing visible defects, cracking patterns, and water damage. Engineers and building consultants use this data to scope repair work and produce accurate quantity estimates. The point cloud also serves as a permanent record of building condition at the time of scanning.
