3D Scanning in Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is one of the fastest-growing regions in Australia, with the new Maroochydore CBD, Sunshine Coast University Hospital expansion, and a pipeline of mid-rise residential projects driving demand for accurate 3D spatial data. Architects, engineers, and builders across the coast need point cloud surveys for everything from renovation design to progress verification on new builds.

Why Sunshine Coast Needs 3D Scanning

The Sunshine Coast is one of the fastest-growing regions in Australia, with the new Maroochydore CBD, Sunshine Coast University Hospital expansion, and a pipeline of mid-rise residential projects driving demand for accurate 3D spatial data. Architects, engineers, and builders across the coast need point cloud surveys for everything from renovation design to progress verification on new builds.

Beyond the urban growth centres, the Sunshine Coast hinterland features heritage buildings in Maleny and Montville, rural infrastructure along the Bruce Highway corridor, and agricultural facilities that require as-built documentation for modernisation projects. Drone LiDAR is particularly effective in the region for mapping steep terrain, vegetated lots, and coastal erosion zones where ground-based survey is slow or impractical.

The region's coastal environment, combined with rapid development, creates projects where existing condition data is essential. Change-of-use applications for older commercial buildings in Caloundra and Nambour require measured drawings. New apartments in Mooloolaba and Alexandra Headland need as-built verification against design models. Infrastructure projects along the rail duplication corridor between Beerburrum and Nambour rely on LiDAR for design and construction monitoring.

FAQs

Common Questions for Sunshine Coast

How often do you work on the Sunshine Coast?

We schedule Sunshine Coast projects at least fortnightly, and more frequently when demand requires it. Our team reaches Caloundra in about 70 minutes from Brisbane via the M1, and Noosa in about two hours. For multi-room or multi-building projects we plan consecutive scan days to maximise time on site. We also coordinate Sunshine Coast and hinterland projects on the same trip when scheduling allows, keeping mobilisation costs down for all clients in the region.

Can you scan steep hinterland sites?

Yes. The Sunshine Coast hinterland presents challenging terrain that conventional survey struggles with. Our drone LiDAR platform captures terrain data through vegetation canopy, producing bare-earth digital terrain models even in dense rainforest or macadamia plantations. For building scans on steep lots, we use tripod-mounted terrestrial LiDAR positioned at multiple elevations to ensure full coverage of retaining walls, undercroft spaces, and sloped entries. The resulting point cloud captures the relationship between structure and terrain that flat-site scanning methods miss.

Do you service Noosa and the northern Sunshine Coast?

Yes. We regularly work in Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Tewantin, and Cooroy. The Noosa area has a steady flow of renovation and heritage documentation projects due to council height restrictions and the character of the existing building stock. We also service Gympie and the Cooloola region for infrastructure and civil projects. Sites north of Noosa may attract a small mobilisation fee depending on distance, which we confirm during the quoting process.
